Music as we say is the food for the soul and a recipe for the mind always comes with different genres. It unites people from different cultures but, at times awards makes it competitive bringing feud among artists.
Celebrated Reggae artist and Grammy Awards nominee Rocky Dawuni has hinted that music is not a competition but a mission one needs to accomplish and henceforth everyone needs to be supported.
In an interview with Ras Ama on Reggae 360, a show which is poised to celebrate reggae artists from all walks of life On Eclipse Broadcasting Network (EBN TV) Rocky, when asked if stonebwoy and other Reggae artists who have won international awards are far ahead of him when it comes to the Reggae Genre although he being the first Musician in Ghanaian to be nominated in the most prestigious Grammy awards but have never won any international award.
The Branches of the same tree crooner made it clear that awards are not a judge of whether a musician is great or less great and henceforth ahead of one another.
He further emphasizes that there are some musicians who never won or nominated for Grammy’s but are still regarded as greats and legends. He made mention of Fella Kuti and Bob Marley who are legends of our time but never won or nominated in Grammy’s. Music is not a competition but a mission and every artist needs to be supported he concluded.
