Veteran Ghanaian actor William Addo, popularly known as Akpatse has called for help, with respect to his ailing eyesight.
According to the actor, he is gradually going blind because has has not being able to fund $40,000 in order to undergo surgery.
He made this appeal in an interview with with Graphic Showbiz.
Mr Addo, 69, noted that he was diagnosed of glaucoma and cataract in 2016. He also added that, with the help of some friends, he was able to perform some tests and surgeries to thwart the ailing nature.
To him, the situation has been unbearable, since, the need to make it public, for benevolent people to come to his aid.
“The cost however is beyond what I can afford as a retiree that is why I want my story to be heard for anyone touched to come to my aid”, he said.
“If you put me anywhere now, I will get lost because, I won’t know where the north, south, east or west is. I can’t pick a call or read messages on my phone without help”, he added.
Quizzed how he feels, he noted that that he can’t see and as a result, it has affected his movement.
“I can’t see so now my movement have been disturbed greatly,” he stated.
“I still believe there are a few more I can do especially nurturing the youngsters to keep our industry alive. Please don’t wait for me to die. Help me now that I need it most”, he appealed.
Mr William Addo is known for movies like ‘Children of the Mountain’, ‘Chronicles of Odumkrom: The Headmaster’, and ‘Death After Birth’.
