Sarkodie named ‘Year of Return’ Ambassador

Sarkodie has been appointed as an Ambassador for the Year Of Return by the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

The celebrated Ghanaian rapper received this honour at the Ghana Creative Industry Forum held under the auspices of the Ministry and Creative Arts Council, on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in Accra-Ghana.

The conferment comes a little over three (3) after he invited Africans in the Diaspora, who wish to return home to choose Ghana. He made this appeal during his BET Hip-hop Awards 2019 ‘Best International Flow’ acceptance speech.

The sector Minister presented a citation in honour of the Sarkcess Music boss for his “consistency, creativity and quest for music excellence.”

In his reaction, as monitored by eFocusLive.com on social media, the ‘Lucky’ rapper has noted that “the Tourism minister Hon. Barbara Oteng Gyasi’s initiatives set for the creative arts is spot on 👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿 … I’m willing to support it 💯 … She hit on all key factors affecting our industry and I hope she gets the support to execute.”

Held under the theme “Reviving Ghana’s Creative Arts Industry”, the event also witnessed dignitaries like the Hon. Barbara Ayisi (Deputy Minister of Education), Akwasi Agyemang (CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority), Mark Okraku Mante (President of Creative Arts Council), and Nana Fredua Agyeman (Board Chairman of the National Theatre).
