In recent times, Ghana’s musical identity highlife has been on the lips of many including key stakeholders, with regards to its key elements, composition etc.
One highlife musician Lucky Mensah has stated that it was near death for the cherished Ghanaian music genre until Kuami Eugene, and other contemporary musicians in the genre saved it.
He made this comment in an interview with Doctar Cann on Accra-based Happy 98.9 FM’s Showbiz Xtra over the weekend.
The ‘Nkratuo’ singer said that “if not for Kuami Eugene and co, like Ghanaian highlife would have been dead in the system.”
His comment also comes at a time highlife legend Amakye Dede’s crowning of Kuami Eugene as the new highlife king has fetched a lot of condemnations other than praise.
Lucky Mensah is back after his 9 years music break with a new single dubbed ‘Tonight’.
