WWE Champion Kofi Kingston has wrapped up his historic visit to his motherland Ghana by paying homage to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The wrestling superstar joined the King of Ashanti to celebrate the Akwasidae Festival on Sunday.
He has since shared his experience after his visit to the Manhyia Palace and he describes that as a great honour.
The professional wrestler, 37, has stated that “never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would stand before the Ashanti King bearing gifts and conversing with him. I’m still trying to process it all, lol.”
He made this known in a social media post which reads:
Yesterday I attended the Akwasidae Festival which is held every 40 days to celebrate our ancestors and pay homage to the Asantehene, the King of Ashanti.
It was here that I had the great honor of meeting His Majesty, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, Ruler of the Kingdom of Ashanti, Leader, Peacekeeper, and one of, if not the most respected individual in all of Ghana.
I’ve often talked about achieving goals that seem so far out of the realm of possibility, that you don’t even begin to think about setting them. This was one of those moments. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would stand before the Ashanti King bearing gifts and conversing with him. I’m still trying to process it all, lol.
Life is crazy…
Kofi arrived in Ghana on Thursday, June 2, 2019 for his historic 4-day visit.
Here in the country, he paid a courtesy call on the president H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He also visited Bonwire, Ejisu, among other places.
