Pope Skinny has finally disclosed the reason behind his long absence on radio while adding that he has actually quit the job.
According to the former host of Kasahare Level on Adom 106.3 FM, who has been on radio for at least eight (8) noted that it does not pay.
He made this known in an exclusive interview with Kasapa 102.1 FM‘s Kwame Bee on the Di Wu Lane Mu show citing reasons for leaving the longest-running rap show on radio in Ghana.
“As a youth, you can’t be doing something for a very long time without seeing results. I’ve been on the radio for eight years, I can’t boast of a house or a car I bought with what I earned from the radio,” he said.
The rapper who now prefers to be called Asuoden God added that he would have been better off if he had ventured into scamming online, an activity popularly known as ‘sakawa’ in the country.
“If it were to be Sakawa, I would have accomplished a lot after eight years,” he added.
The Asuoden Music boss also stated that talent alone does not pay in Ghana.
“Now talent doesn’t pay in this country, if you have money and you make a song you’ll hit. Musicians are sleeping right now because they don’t have money to push their songs.”
Pope Skinny is noted for songs like ‘Manta’, ‘Hot Cake’, ‘Oil Money’, ‘Wa Shatta Me’ and many more.
