Zinedine Zidane has stepped down as the manager of Spanish giants Real Madrid, barely five (5) days after he winning the UEFA Champions League, eFocusLive Sports Desk can confirm.
His resignation also comes after historically winning the UEFA Champions League three (3) times in a row.
Also known as Zizou, 45, he made this announcement on Thursday morning stating that “I have taken the decision to not continue going into the next season. For me and for everybody, I think the moment to change has arrived. It was not an easy decision.”
“Maybe it’s a mistake. But I feel it’s time. If I don’t think that we can keep winning then it’s time. How can I ask more from the players? Big players need a change,” he added.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez also added “This was a totally unexpected decision, Zidane informed me of his choice yesterday. I thank him for the work he has done.”
Zidane was appointed as Los Blanco‘s first team manager in January 2016 after Rafa Benitez was dismissed.
